jarcher Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 A friend of mine and I were discussing (in response to a blog post) the use of the neuter demonstrative in Eph. 2:8. I'd like to find all instances of the neuter demonstrative where a corresponding neuter noun is absent. Ideas? Thanks, Jeremy
DELETED Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Jeremy, I think this might work (or be a good place to start): 1. Set up a search in GNT-T for all demonstrative neuter pronouns (window name GNT-T). 2. Set up a second search in GNT-T using a search construct that searches both directions for a dem. neut. pronoun and a noun agreeing case, gender, and number within 4 words of each other (window name GNT-T 2). 3. Set up a third search in GNT-T, search for words. Use the CONTENTS command. Search for CONTENTS GNT-T AND NOT CONTENTS GNT-T 2. The third search should show you every verse where a demonstrative neuter pronoun is used where it is not followed or preceded by a noun that agrees in case, gender, and number within 4 words. You can modify the search as necessary to extend out to more words, add pronouns of other types in addition to nouns, &c.
