  1. Hello brothers and sisters in Christ, Any advice on how to look up the different translations and occurrences of that translation of a single Hebrew word in multiple English translations. For example if I wanted to look strong's H539 aman which is most frequently translated "believe" in the KJV. Is there a way I could look up H539 and see it's different translations in the KJV, ESV, NKJV, NASB, etc., and the number of times it's translated those ways in those versions. Ideally all this information would be on the same screen. Would I need to purchase concordances for each version, or could I get away with only purchasing/downloading the different English versions? Advice on how to do this? I'm a newbie with Accordance. However, I'm pretty tech savvy, and can learn pretty quickly. Thank you for your help. Love in Christ, Brian
  2. Is there a way to simultaneously search all linguistic forms of a word at the same time? e.g. is there a way to search for the noun, verb, adjectival, and adverbial forms of "love" (αγαπαω)? Or do I just have to enter all the forms in manually with OR in between each element? Thanks!
  3. I have been having some issues with original language word studies. I am sure it is user error, but I can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I had originally been trying to do a word study on אֱלֹהִ֑ים, to see how it appears in the ESV. I therefore went to the ESV and did a lexeme search on "God." However, when I went to the concordance hits, I kept getting all sorts of hits in the NT, where אֱלֹהִ֑ים obviously does not occur. I then decided to follow Timothy's word study exactly, so I went to the ESV and did a lexeme study on "created" in order to look up בָּרָ֣א . Timothy's example shows 53 hits in 46 verses, and that is my result as well. However, when I go to the concordance to see how the ESV uses בָּרָ֣א, I am getting tons of hits in the NT, where, like the other Hebrew word, בָּרָ֣א does not occur in the Greek text. I am therefore not able to get a good idea of how the word is being used in the ESV, since it is also including other words. I also started looking at some of the OT hits for אֱלֹהִ֑ים independently, and noticed that sometimes it is using other Hebrew words also in the concordance verse list. It is not clear to me what I am doing wrong, and any ideas would be appreciated. I am also attaching a screen shot to make sure it is clear what I am doing. Thanks, Kristin

    Word Study

Is there a feature in Accordance similar to Logos' Bible Word Study tool? It would be nice to click a button and see multiple layers of analysis come up rather than manually pulling up each one.

    #153) Illuminating "Day"

The latest podcast is up! #153) Illuminating "Day" (Heb. yom) What does the word “day” mean in Genesis 1:5? This podcast is a study of this question, one of the critical issues for interpreting the Creation account in Genesis 1. Using “day” as a case study, Dr. J shows both the correct and the incorrect ways to study a word in the Bible. In the process, he demonstrates five features in Accordance that make quick word studies easy—and sheds some “light” on this contentious issue. Enjoy! https://vimeo.com/208870829
  6. I am a new Accordance user that switched recently after 10 years of using Logos, and before that WordSearch and PC Study Bible. The only thing I really miss are the great word study dictionaries by AMG Publishers. The Complete Word Study Dictionary: New Testament by Spiros Zodhiates and The Complete Word Study Dictionary: Old Testament by Warren Baker and Eugene Carpenter were two of my favorite resources for word studies. They are halfway between Vine's/Renn's and a full out lexicon like BDAG/HALOT. It would be great if Accordance could offer them soon.
