  1. I am pretty stressed from having import issues with a User Bible. For context, I have been working on this specific translation for a few months, and when I make a major edit I re-import it without an issue. Then a few weeks ago I tried to import it and instead of importing normally, I get this odd box saying that "%@" is not available. Those are obviously not characters in my Bible, and it is also obviously not the name of the Bible. When I click "ok" I tried to open my Bible to see if the changes were applied, or if it would open the User Bible from the day before prior to the edits. Doing so makes it crash. I re-opened Accordance saying NOT to recover and tried opening my User Bible. It opened without a problem and the changes from the most recent import were applied. So I just concluded that was weird and moved on. Then today the same situation happened. So the good part is that the edits are being applied and the User Bible opens, but I am very uneasy about the warning about the %@ since I literally have no idea what it is talking about. Any help to prevent this from happening again would be appreciated. Thank you, Kristin
  2. I am trying to mimic the line wrapping behavior of poetry within standard Accordance text modules in my user Bible. Specifically, when a line of poetry is wrapped in a standard text module, Accordance indents it by what appears to be an additional two tab stops; but when a line of poetry is wrapped in my user Bible, Accordance doesn't indent it at all. To illustrate, I've reproduced 1 Peter 1:24-25 from NIV11 (on the left) as a user Bible (on the right). First, here is how Accordance renders them without any line wrapping: Next, here is how Accordance renders them when the view width is narrow enough to wrap the line beginning with "and all their glory ...": Here is the source for my user Bible (you may not be able to tell visually, but it uses tab characters [U+0009] to indent each line of poetry either one or two levels): 1Pet. 1:24 For, ¶ “All people are like grass,<br> and all their glory is like the flowers of the field;<br> the grass withers and the flowers fall,<br> 1Pet. 1:25 but the word of the Lord endures forever.” ¶ And this is the word that was preached to you. Is it possible to mimic the line wrapping behavior of the standard text module on the left in a user Bible? (Bonus question: I assume using tab characters is the idiomatic way to indent poetry in a user Bible, but I only discovered this by trial and error. Is this documented anywhere in the help system?)
  3. Hey! I've made my own bible that i want to import into Accordance and i would like to make headlines in the text. Some bibles in my library have them, so it seems possible? How do i make the headlines in the .txt file and how should they be formatted? And is it even possible to do? Thanks in advance! Ruben

    Book of Mormon User Bible

Hey all, I was trying to test out Accordance's INFER command with the BoM and KJV (to identify quotes of NT passages in the BoM), but hit several hurdles. INFER only works with texts so I am unable to make it a User Tool. Although I am able to map Alternate Book Names using a separate file, the versification for the BoM is obviously not based on any Accordance module. Is there a way to setup custom versification? Thanks
  5. This is not a very important question but more out of curiosity. When I import a User Bible It asks “New Bible name” and I call it whatever I am calling it and press ok. Then after it imports, but before finishing, it asks “Full name of text.” So I type the name again. I am thus wondering why it asks for the name twice, and if there is a difference between the “Bible name” and “Full name.” Thank you for any clarity anyone is able to provide. Sincerely, Kristin
  6. I feel like this question is super basic, but I am having some confusion and would appreciate any clarity anyone is able to provide. I was at Joel’s Webinar today, (which I really appreciated!) and during the Webinar he was showing this “Cotton Patch Bible” which he seems to have imported as a “User Bible” if I am not mistaken. This seemed to be a published book, so I am kind of confused how to do this. A similar question, while I do not have a published Bible I am trying to import, I DO have sections of my own translation. I don’t mean anything official, I just mean that anyone who has taken Greek or Hebrew has been forced to do their own translations. I am currently storing my translations next to verses as Notes, but is there a way to import it as a “User Bible”? Thank you for any clarity anyone is able to provide. Sincerely, Kristin

    Import USFM Bible

Our organization promotes Bible translation around the world. I use and enjoy Accordance for my study, but would like an easier way to import user Bibles in USFM format. For those of us in the translation, USFM is the standard for literally thousands of translations that are either finished or in process. Recently, a number of open-source Bibles have been created and available through sites such as http://ebible.org and http://openenglishbible.org. I expect these resources to continue to increase, and they are all in USFM. From all I have been able to gather on the forum, it is only possible to import a text file. The amount of editing it takes to convert USFM to the proper Accordance format is daunting. Since USFM is such a significant format, are there any plans to make it possible to import USFM texts in the future?
  8. Hello Please let us do longer Imported Bible titels. It would be great if we can make longer Imported Bible names. Like your "Einheitsübersetzung-Lemmas (German)" or "NIV (2011) with Enhanced G/K Numbers". Minus 1 for the °. There are more space available then we can actually use. Greetings Fabian
  9. Since upgrading to Accordance 13 I am unable to import/create a User bible using an Esperanto Bible text file even though I have had no problem importing the same txt file over the years into past versions. The text contains characters using circumflex and breve. I have saved the text file in a variety of encodings but continue to receive the same error message: "The word “En” in Genesis 1:1 is somehow corrupting the building of this Bible text." [see attached image] Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Mac OS 10.15.2 Accordance 13.0.2
  10. Is there a way to use midline circlets ○ in user bibles? I'm working on a translation for Qumran non-biblical manuscripts, and I'd like to use midline circlets to represent unrecognizable ink traces.
  11. I followed the instructions for importing a Bible, and overall was extremely pleased with the result! I'm especially grateful for the easy to use user interface. However, I do have one request: When using foreign language Unicode for Bible book titles, most of them appear correctly in the main text, but none do in the little dropdown in the bottom right corner (see attached). Some (or at least one) is not working, in particular those that have letters consonantal subscripts (I'm not sure how to describe this, but it's a feature of Khmer). Note that this only happens when not using English Book Titles is set as default; when using English Book Titles is set as default, English book titles appears, which is actually preferrable. Actually overall my preference would be that English titles, along with chapter and verse, always show up regardless of default settings for a resource, if possible, for each of navigation. I attached one picture where just the dropdown in the bottom right corner is off, and another where both are incorrectly displayed (shows a question mark instead of the final consonantal subscript). Perhaps it will be helpful for troubleshooting. It should display as "លោកុ‌ប្បត្តិ" rather than "លោកុ‌ប្បត្?" Thanks again, other than appears to work great! Accordance 12 Windows 7 Dell Optiplex

    Problems with importing user Bible

Hi! I'm trying to import a User Bible in Danish, but I get the error: "Somehow the word (some word) in (some verse reference) is corrupting the building of this bible text...". For instance, in Gen 14:2 (see underneath), there apparently is a problem with the word "ab" (in "Shin'ab"): Gen 14:2 gik de i krig mod kong Bera i Sodoma, kong Birsha i Gomorra, kong Shin'ab i Adma, kong Shem'eber i Sebojim og kongen i Bela, det samme som Soar. And in Num 21:11 there is a problem with the word "Abarim": Num 21:11 De brød op fra Obot og slog lejr i Ijje-ha-Abarim i ørkenen øst for Moab. I'm pretty sure the encoding of the file is correct. I've attached part of the file. I hope someone can help! Thank you!
  13. This might be very unusual request. I have recently imported a Swahili language Bible as a User Text into Accordance. This works great (mostly) so far. The challenge I have is i would like to link the Swahili to the original languages <OR> to English... and/also, if I could create a tagged text for language correlation to English, that would also be very helpful. Is this possible for a user? Thanks, Cam
  14. I have recently begun putting together a user Bible text. It worked just fine to add it to my Accordance (which is fantastic that we can do that), but it would be more helpful if I could also tag it (according to Hebrew tags, though it is a transcription of Hebrew). Is there any code I can enter in the .txt file for my user Bible or any way I can tag this text? I do not mind going word by word, but I am not sure if this is possible with a user Bible/text. Grace and peace in Christ, Ben
  15. Hello I would love it to have the possibility to add a second user defined Bible Book name. Like "Acts" "Apostelgeschichte" "Apg" "Rom" "Römerbrief" "Rom" etc. In the preferences this would be possible, so we can check for the English ore User Version and English abbreviations and User abbreviations. It would be very nice if this works in the Accordance Mobile too. Depending on the option which is checked.
  16. Is it possible to include footnotes in a user Bible? If so, how? (I don't see anything in the Help files about it.) If not, what would be the best alternative – a User Tool? How best to format it?
  17. Hello I'm using accordance 12 on windows 10 and I expected that I can use my user bible on my IPad. But the menu "sync with mobile device" is not working. why? It can not recognize any other device such as IPhone. How can I use user bible on my IPad if I have accordance12 for windows?
  18. See picture and example text below. Accordance 11.2.4 macOS 10.12.1 Beta (16B2548a) // Public Beta 4 1Sam.txt
  19. Team, i have imported my own language bible into accordance. And i would like to tag every word in that with strong's number. \is it possible ? like we do in colouring a bible text using code <color> text </color>. suggestion would be really most helpful. thanks team
  20. Hello Joel and Mike If I create a Imported Bible and give on the second line a different name (here with the abbr.) The second line comes in the Tool Information But not in the library, in which I would love to search with the abbr. too Greetings Fabian
  21. Hello It would be nice if I have an empty verse in Imported Bibles if the can be empty. At the moment I have to set something for the right display. Source like this results like this And always to set a "--" or so is not so nice. Greetings Fabian
  22. Hi! Now whenever I import user Bible, Accordance adds ° at the end of the User Bible name. Like this: Latvian Bible 1965°. I had previously imported Latvian Bible 1965, now it has different name and as a result it's missing all the specific word highlights. Could you add some migration tool to move highlights to the new name(s)? Otherwise I have quite a lot of highlights sitting in the highlights file, which won't be shown anymore anywhere.
  23. Hello I have an issue to import a text which has the same count and numbering like your Clementine Vulgate on Judith. On the 14th chapter Accordance stop and bring an Pop-up. There are to much verses in it. But your Clementine has also more verses in it than the Nova, and other. Greetings Fabian
  24. Hello Please look on this bug. When I make a <br> in the txt file for a new line within a verse at the end of a verse so that the new verse comes on a new line without the ¶ (paragraph) mark. Then in Accordance if I make every verse on a new line. It has always a space line on the cmd-T as "single verse". See pic. 2nd often/most in the reader modus the ¶ within two paragraphs don’t separate them in two. The quantify for ¶ can be higher in the User Bibles, before Accordance complains. Thanks Fabian
  25. How does one install a User Bible on another machine? I have my own User Bible on my machine in [user]/Library/Application Support/Modules/Shared User Bibles. I just copied the module and put it in that location on another computer, but when I launch Accordance (11.0.3), the User Bible module doesn't show up. Certainly one doesn't have to re-make the User Bible on each machine with the File > User Files > Import Bible Text command (i.e. process the text file)? I also noticed that long ago I made another User Bible (with only Genesis) and it's in the Shared User Bibles folder on my Mac. However, that one doesn't show up in Accordance either.
