  1. Hi, I am a new Accordance user and I am happy to use Accordance. Please implement unicode for user tool. I have Chinese books / long notes that I want to import into Accordance. I am sure your other international users would love to store their favorable books in their language in Accordance. If this request is already in your roadmap, please advise a possible timeline. Thanks! Sincerely, Michael Chan
  2. Hello https://www.ifun.de/cicero-unicode-uebersicht-fuer-mac-und-iphone-146837/ macOS: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/cicero-a-unicode-tool/id1480977453?mt=12 iOS: https://apps.apple.com/de/app/cicero-a-unicode-tool/id1372549464 BTW a full unicode Accordance would be helpful for nearly the whole world. Even for Latin! Because there is no MacOS Roman character for the ē. Greetings Fabian
  3. Hi everyone, I upgraded to Acc 12 today – $25! Thank you Accordance! – and there seems to be a minor issue in the display of Greek Text. iota subscript gets rendered as {, and some (not all) rough breathers get rendered as a magnifying glass. There are also some spacing issues. E.g., υμας in Luke 13:27, and at the beginning of new paragraphs where a smooth breather and accent appear next to the verse number (Luke 13:22). These issues persist whether I view NA27, Westcott and Hort, TR, etc. See screen shot. Any recommendations for how to resolve these things? Is it a problem on my end (e.g., a unicode issue), or is a bug? My apologies if this is a known problem with a solution I didn't find. Many thanks for your help! Best, Jonathon
  4. I open «Feasting on the Word (Readings)» resource and copy last two Bible references from the Proper 18: James 2:1–10 (11–13), 14–17 Mark 7:24–37 I open Bible text search pane (with Latvian Bible 2012 as my default Bible) and paste these Bible references in the Search field. I remove brackets and add comma after 10. Looks like this: James 2:1–10, 11–13, 14–17; Mark 7:24–37 I press Enter and Bible texts are shown from the Latvian Bible 2012. So far so good. I close Accordance and reopen it. I click on the Bible text button on the left and choose NRSV with Strongs. Now the same verses are shown from the NRSVS. Nice! I close Accordance and reopen it. Oops. Error message pops up: "There are extra characters after the end of the verse reference." Accordance workspace opens, in the Search field are wrong characters: James 2:1‚Äì10, 11‚Äì13, 14‚Äì17; Mark 7:24‚Äì37 Probably something to do with the initially used Unicode Bible text? Can you fix this? It would be nice if Accordance could correctly interpret brackets, too.
  5. We start classes this week, and I have been doing some experimentation of importing unicode multilingual text into User Tools, for my own personal use (not for distribution). The Greek text is imported as strange random characters, rendering it virtually useless. There might be something in Preferences not set quite right that will work around this problem. I'll try to insert a screen capture of some text that shows the display inside my HTML-imported User Tool, as compared with the display as it should be. Text should look like this: VERSE 1 Παῦλος ἀπόστολος Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ διὰ θελήματος θεοῦ The anar. proper name Παῦλος is a nom. abs. since it is not grammatically the subj. of a verb. Ἀπόστολος is also in the nom. case because it is in appos. to Παῦλος, further describing oridentifying the author and is anar. because Paul is only one apostle among many. This term has three different uses: (1) technical; (2) semitechnical; and (3) nontechnical. The technical userefers specifically to the Twelve (Matt 10:2; Acts 1:13; 1 Cor 15:5, 7) and Paul (1 Cor 9:1; 15:9) who were chosen and commissioned by Jesus to have a unique position in the founding of theChurch. The semitechnical use refers to leaders who were commissioned by Jesus or the church (James [1 Cor 15:7; Gal 1:19]; Barnabas [1 Cor 15:5–6; cf. Acts 14:4, 14], and possiblyApollos [1 Cor 4:6, 9] and Andronicus and Junia [Rom 16:7]). The nontechnical use refers to a messenger, representative, or emissary who is on a temporary assignment (Epaphroditus[Phil 2:25] and Titus’s two companions [2 Cor 8:23]). In Ephesians the term ἀπόστολος is later coupled with προφῆται (“prophets”), the latter term always occurring second (2:20; 3:5;4:11; cf. 1 Cor 12:28–29). Instead, it looks like the attached image. I would be extremely thankful for any help in this matter. Blessings!
  6. The latest version of Accordance (12.1.1) has a problem displaying Unicode text properly in the Instant Details palette. Latvian Bible.
  7. Hi, I wanted to create a new User Tool "Didache" in Latvian. So I created "Didahe (Latviski)" User Tool and tried to paste Unicode text from this web page: http://biblos.lv/Didahe.html(Reader Mode in Safari browser), but it pasted only first 2-3 words and that's all. Then I saved Didache e-text as HTML, opened it in TextEdit, removed image and simplified formatting. Tried to import saved HTML file into the existing User Tool file. It imported all text, except all Latvian letters were lost. I opened file for editing, but it doesn't even show Unicode characters properly when I enter them. Can't type in Latvian. A bug or a missing feature?
  8. Accordance Team, Thank You for Accordance 12! I now have Accordance it, but I'm not too sure if anything has changed in this area. (1) Is Acc 12 fully Unicode now? (2) Were there any improvements to the way user Bibles are handled (making them, searching them? comparing them to native Accordance texts, versification)? (There have been several suggestions / feature requests about that in the forums.) Thanks!
  9. Hello i've created a User Tool from a html with utf-8 encoding. Now if I research all tools then the hits are sometimes false. No matter if exact or flex search is selected. But as unicode Research I had no hits. Greetings Fabian

    Macro for changing fonts

Hi All, I thought I had cracked a way to create a macro in Word using Find/Replace All to change any Unicode Greek and Hebrew to a font of my choosing. It works, but only mostly. I'll paste my steps below. The problem seems to be with characters that use combining diacritics, both in Greek and in Hebrew. E.g., for any Hebrew character with a dagesh, the dagesh doesn't get changed but everything around it does, with the result that a vowel under such a character gets bumped out and given a hollow circle (I'll post a screenshot). Similarly, some (but not all!) Greek letters with breathing marks don't get changed. Any suggestions on how to fix this? It happens both with Hebrew/Greek Unicode pasted from Accordance and with Hebrew/Greek Unicode that I type out. Thanks in advance, Tony Edit: here's that screenshot:
  11. Hi, Hebrew Unicode problems still persist. 1. If I copy from HMT-4 and paste it into a Note, it doesn't all display correctly. 2. If I import Unicode Hebrew from another program, it doesn't all display correctly. 3. If I select the pasted texts, and change to them to other Unicode fonts, they look even worse. I already posted screen shots of the same things, at http://www.accordancebible.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=14286 4. If you copy and paste more than one Hebrew verse, they do not display in the correct order. For example, copy and paste Gen 1:1-3 into the notes; see screenshot. 5. Typing right to left is worse than before. Before, if I changed the Windows language to Hebrew, typed a Hebrew word, and then the spacebar, the cursor went to the right of each Hebrew word. It still does, only now the space becomes an underline space. 12. Hi, I've found a workaround in Windows to enter Hebrew Unicode characters in my User Notes and Construct Searches. Unicode Hebrew keyboards work for all unshifted characters. So I thought that a custom keyboard using normal unshifted characters would work. I downloaded the free program Microsoft Keyboard Layout at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=22339 I found the Windows: How to Change Keyboard Layout video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5h5ixlRIAA very helpful. I opened Microsoft Keyboard Layout, File > Load an Existing Keyboard > Hebrew (QWERT), and changed the keyboard to my liking, following Ezra SIL Unicode 2.4 except for its shifted characters (final consonants, etc.). It works great. I set the Windows language bar to Hebrew and my custom Unicode keyboard, and I can word process in Accordance like in any other Windows program. I thought this would be more relevant in Original Languages than in Windows Wisdom, for those who do most of their work in the original languages. 13. Hi, I just wonder how far/deep do you support unicode in the user notes? I noticed that in 10.3.2 I could type Latvian letters and they didn't destroy whole comment as it was before, but they also were not displayed properly, but as two letter combination. The latest update (10.3.3) didn't change anything in this regard. But I hoped it would…

    Unicode in User Notes

I've recently started using User Notes for my Bible class preparation in ministry and I LOVE it! Syncing with my iPad is a breeze and the whole teaching experience is simplified. Thank you! Is it possible to use Unicode fonts in User Notes? I would like to use SBL Greek in my User Notes but have to use the BibleWorks Greek font I have from years ago. Importing from Accordance seems to make it Helena. Is there a better way to use Biblical fonts in User Notes? If not, is this a possibility for the future?
  15. I'm using the tool iFlash to learn greek vocabulary. You can only sent one font for each card-side. So the problem with the answer side of the card is that I have the German word, but I also want to insert an greek sample sentence from the GNT. In the accordance preferences I changed the settings to always export in unicode-format. So when I copy and paste from the GNT it works. I can paste the text in iFlash. The only downside I see is that unicode doesn't look as good as the Helena font (is that correct?). Is there any way to convert greek unicode text back to use helena font again? For example if someday I use a different tool that would support multiple fonts. Since creating those vocabulary cards takes a lot of time I want to make sure I'm going down the right path.
