One and two letter verb roots: finding the missing letters
Bielikov posted a topic in Original Languages
When your Hebrew grammar begins to answer the questions you have pondered, then it becomes a delight to study grammar. Kittel et al (Biblical Hebrew, Yale) does a nice job of introducing ways of finding the missing letter in prefix forms. She calls them the "missing letter rules." Naama Zahavi Ely has a page, also, with some of the exceptions (a bit strange as Naama does not use final letter forms, which threw me off at first). Beside these two, any suggestions on clues for finding the missing root letter in two-letter roots? I would love either more rules (Kittel offers 4 rules) or the exceptions. -
When attempting to do a search for roots in the PESHOT-T text I receive the following error message: The text "PESHOT-T" cannot find the file for its roots.

Searching Hebrew roots within another search (embedded search)
JoshMann posted a topic in General Accordance Topics
Is it possible to do the following embedded search, and if so, what is the best way? Search for all roots in the Hebrew Bible that form adjectives; From that set, search all roots that form verbs in Niphal.- 3 replies

I'm trying to get a list of all the Hebrew roots in the HB. I tried this using the Hebrew construct window by dropping ROOT in the first column and setting its contents to "???". I think this is giving me a full list of all the roots in the analysis window. How do I eliminate the Aramaic roots. I believe they end with "0". Thanks, Charles

The Analysis Window is a great feature in Accordance. I use it daily for both analyzing and learning (e.g. expanding vocab). But at present, though in tab format, the Analysis Window operates in Accordance as a text file. And all the data on each word is not displayed always, namely a word's Root. Suggestions: 1) Include the Root in the Analysis Window (and everywhere else perhaps) for every word, including the verbs which share the Root in their Lemma 2) Display the Analysis Window like a spreadsheet with columns etc. so it looks and feels like Word Charts. 3) Configure the Analysis Window like a spreadsheet so the data can be arranged by column etc. These would solve some of the issues for exporting vocab lists described in Vocab Building Format and list of roots.
