[Accordance 12.2.8: Study} Morphologically Coded Highlights and Greek Diagrams can both help identify the underlying structure of the Greek text. In this podcast Dr. J uses both to exegete the purpose clause of Col. 1:9-12. What did Paul mean when he asked the Colossian Christians to "walk worthy" of their faith? https://www.accordancebible.com/Walk-Worthy

Join me (Dr. J) in this study of the Ethiopian’s conversion (Acts 8:26-40). This podcast digs deeper into the passage, determining its limit, establishing its literary and geographical context, and investigating unclear and unknown items in the passage. The study is a good model of how to use the Info Pane quickly and efficiently. Watch the video here: https://www.accordancebible.com/Philip-and-Ethiopian

The latest podcast is up! #153) Illuminating "Day" (Heb. yom) What does the word “day” mean in Genesis 1:5? This podcast is a study of this question, one of the critical issues for interpreting the Creation account in Genesis 1. Using “day” as a case study, Dr. J shows both the correct and the incorrect ways to study a word in the Bible. In the process, he demonstrates five features in Accordance that make quick word studies easy—and sheds some “light” on this contentious issue. Enjoy! https://vimeo.com/208870829

[Accordance 10: Study] Ever been asked to lead a Bible study with little to no advance notice? There's no need to panic. In this study of Psalm 23, Dr. J demonstrates how to use Accordance on an iPad to create a quick Bible study, using nothing more than a Bible, several good Bible dictionaries, and the Accordance PhotoGuide and PhotoMuseum. #110) the Lord is My Shepherd

[Accordance 10: Methods] The best way to study a verse in the Bible is to learn to think contextually. Consider a verse's context: the paragraph in which it is found, the section in which it appears, and the book in which it is embedded. Good tools, like Bible outlines and Introductions, can help us see the big picture. Thinking contextually helps us avoid errors in interpretation, as Dr. J shows us in this podcast, using the three parables of Luke 15 as an example.

I am interested in studying words and have limited experience doing so. Right now I am particularly interested in studying the word "grace". I'm sort of a step-by-step method kinda guy but haven't come up with one on my own that I really like. My goal would be to get a good understanding of the word "grace" and perhaps later drill down deeper. I'm planning to use the NIV11-GK for my text and the Mounce Greek Dictionary and Kohlenberger/Mounce Hebrew Dictionary as my starting points for the original languages. I have very little knowledge of those languages but manage to find my way around somewhat via the keyed texts I have. If anyone has a good method for doing this type of study I'd really like to see it. Dr. J, if you read this I think it would be an excellent topic for a podcast
