  1. When I do research on a Hebrew word, the Research ignores the vowels, which is usually helpful, but sometimes I am looking for specific vowels. Is there a way to do that in Research? Thanks, Kristin
  2. I apologize if this has already been addressed, but I am having some difficulty with a search. Last week I learned that I can't mix and match languages searching in Research, but I think I can if I actively open the resource in question. I am trying to search the ISBE for all the instances of אֱלֹהִים within 4 words of angel. While I can type אֱלֹהִים and also WITHIN 4 WORDS, I can't type "angel" as it types in Hebrew. If I set it to English to type it, it scrambles אֱלֹהִים. Could I please receive clarification how to do such searches in modules such as the ISBE? Thank you, Kristin

    Notes added to Research

I would like to request for "Notes" to be included when doing research. Currently if I research a topic "My Tools" comes up, which is very helpful, but if it is in a Note it does not appear. I have a lot of important information in my notes, so having it included would be helpful, but it has become even more important as I have run into an issue with finding information in notes. If I know I wrote a note about something, I can only find that information if I remember which note I wrote it on. This is the main reason why I had originally only used one primary note, which I am now needing to transfer to several smaller notes. For more detail of this request please see this thread: Sincerely, Kristin

    searching notes

I have run into a sort of unusual problem with searching notes. Up until now if I knew the word in a note I was looking for, but couldn't remember the biblical reference where I had attached the note, I could open My Notes as a new tab and search for a word and find it. However, My Notes file got too large and crashes whenever I try to open it as a new tab, forcing me to divide My Notes into multiple smaller note files. With that all said, I am now having the problem of needing to guess which note file something is attached to. I can open one note as a new tab and do a key word search, and if it is not there I search the next notes file, which is time consuming and inefficient. Is there a way to do "Research" on all of my notes files to find a word or phrase? Thank you for any help anyone is able to provide. Sincerely, Kristin
  5. Hello, I use Parchment background color for all commentaries, and Cambria font. However, when I use Live Click, new Research zone opens with the white background and text is shown in some other font. Could you please use the default font and background color settings also for this zone/pane?
  6. Today's webinar was great. More webinars please. Please cover Constructs in great detail and the pros and cons of booleans vs. constructs. I've read http://accordancefiles2.com/helpfiles/OSX12/content/topics/06_braa/undrstnd_constrct_vs_srch.htm but still am slow at getting it. Best, Dan

    Research Toolbar Box

In the toolbar, if you type long text in the research box the text won't scroll. this is irritating, since you think you didn't type it... but it is there.

    Move Accordance data folder

Hello, I'm contemplating moving my Accordance content folder to a super fast external SSD, since Apple hasn't released a newer MacBook Pro with a materially faster SSD since 2016 so far. Do I just move the folder out of Applications and then possibly recreate Dock icons? Is that it? I thought Accordance might bury the modules in the user folders these days... Do I need to do surgery to a plist somewhere to convince it to use the disk? Otherwise I suppose I could do some magic with mount points, but I'd rather not.

    #173) Researching Cultural Background

[Accordance 12.2.9: Intermediate] One of the hardest parts of studying the Bible is identifying important cultural background issues. Fortunately, Accordance offers a wide variety of resources dedicated to this subject—and an array of techniques to access them quickly and easily. Join Dr. J as he explains how to research cultural background information in Accordance. Additional note: I'm really pleased with the progress biblical scholars have made in this area in the last twenty years. These resources are now more available and easier to assess than ever before. As far as techniques, Accordance has made incredible improvements in the last four years (since Accordance 10). Once upon a time we "amplified" a word to a single source, investigating the sources one-by-one as we searched for insights. Now, Accordance 12 offers us powerful search tools and filters to investigate multiple resources as a group: the Info Pane, Live Click, and Research. I wonder what we'll come up with next?!? #167) Live Click

Live Click uses a simple click to search for verse references in all texts—and words in all texts, lexicons, and Bible dictionaries. We added the feature in Accordance 12.2.7 at the request of former BW users, who missed a similar function in their old software. Now, with the release of Accordance 12.2.8, Live Click offers more features and even quicker searches. Watch the podcast: http://www.accordanc....com/Live-Click
  11. I'm trying to do some research on the Babylonian Exile but have discovered that a lot of the resources list in under different headings (e.g. Babylonian Exile, The Exile, Babylonian Captivity etc.). Is there a way I can type more than one search term in to the research bar or do I have to do one at a time. Thanks kindly!
  12. I was wondering if someone could help me how to use Accordance to find all the books of the Bible that deal with the Babylonian Exile. Up until now, I've just been researching the topic and then trying to find all the books that speak of the Exile. But, I was wondering if there is a more efficient way to find out the exact books that deal with the 70 year period. Given how amazing Accordance is, I feel like I'm missing something! Thanks!

    Stacks from Research

Howdy all! I was using the live click to do some quick study in my text for Sunday and wanted to put something I found into my sermon stack. It was then that I realized I was unable to take something from a Research zone and put it into a stack. So I am officially requesting to be able to add to stacks from research, especially a research launched with live click.
  14. I am curious if there is a way to include user notes in searches?
  15. Acc. 12.0.6, Win 10 When doing a search from the Research box in the upper right, the resulting zone/pane has no navigation bar at the bottom with the up/down arrows to move between hits. Is this the expected behavior? Scrolling is somewhat cumbersome.
  16. Hi! I thoroughly enjoy the "research" feature in Accordance 12, but I'm wondering if it's possible to isolate an individual volume within a module and "research" only that volume. For example, I'd like to search for a particular word or reference in Beale's Biblical Theology and in Osborne's commentary in ZEC. As it stands, I'm forced to research the entire ZEC corpus. I would love to have the ability to research particular volumes inside the module. Thanks!

    #152) Research and Research Analytics

Our latest podcast, #152) Research and Research Analytics, is now available at https://vimeo.com/204571194. Research is Accordance's fastest, most comprehensive search of mutiple resources. It replaced the older Search All in Accordance 11. Now, in Accordance 12, it features its own set of Research Analytics. Research + Research Assistant is a powerful combination that allows us to dig deeper into our search results than ever before. It identifies relevant passages and resources quickly and easily. It’s like having our very own research assistant, available to do our bidding whenever and wherever we are. 18. When I search, for example, the journal library, and it shows, say,100 results, all I can see is a short text snippet, but it doesnt show the heading of the title/article it came from. I have to manually mouseover the text to make the title popup. This can be annoying to have to mouse over all 100 text snippets. Is this normal, or is it a config thing unique to my computer? I note that there is no config/text formatting option for this panel.
  19. After installing some updates in the last 2 days, my Accordance started crashing on startup. I deleted the Startup session and now it starts fine, but I cannot run a search over everything, so I suspect a corrupt module. I looked at the whole Library listing, but cannot find any corruption in the names. Worse, Accordance doesn't seem to be dumping user crash reports for me anymore, so I don't have a stack trace to give you. How can I enable sufficient logging to figure out which module is causing the crashes, so I can delete and reinstall it?
  20. Hello, I have a problem using the general research tool: whenever I want to use it to research a word in English (Unicode), Accordance performs the research but then quits before displaying the result of the research. I am using accordance 11.2.3 on a MacBookPro running OS X 10.11.6. It would be great if you could help... Thanks Vincent
  21. Hello i've created a User Tool from a html with utf-8 encoding. Now if I research all tools then the hits are sometimes false. No matter if exact or flex search is selected. But as unicode Research I had no hits. Greetings Fabian

    #141) Advanced Greek Searches

Advanced Greek Searches, podcast #141, is up and ready for viewing. Picking up where Basic Greek Searches ended, this podcast covers Searching and Amplifying to Greek Tools, Research in Greek, Search in, and a bit more about using Tags in Greek Searches. Enjoy! https://vimeo.com/168213861
  23. Hi All, I've looked around and can't seem to find it, so maybe you can help me--I imagine I'm probably just missing how to do this. Is it possible to "Research" a something by BOTH the word AND the scripture passage reference? For example: I've started a series on 1 Cor. 13. We are looking at each of the adjectives and adjectival phrases that Paul uses to describe "Love". Last week we looked at "Love is patient." (1 Cor. 13:4), and this week we are looking at "Love is kind." I want to be able to "Research" from all my resources the word "kind" (and/or the Greek equivalent), AND I want to ONLY look at the resources that specifically look at this word "kind" in the context of 1 Cor. 13:4. Currently, I can see how to "research" all the occurrences of 1 Cor. 13:4 (although I'm having trouble with that too, because I currently don't want to include reference which "include" 1 Cor. 13:4--like "1 Cor. 11-14"--I only want 1 Cor. 13:4 specifically), and I can see how to look up the word "kind" (although again, I'm having trouble there too--because I want to look up the specific word meant by the Greek and translated as "kind", but many of my English resources don't include the Greek word in them, so I have to look up "kind" and therefore get all kinds of results, like the "kinds" of animals and so on that are completely irrelevant...). But I can't (getting back to the point), currently figure out how to search for the word "kind" in 1 Cor. 13:4 among my resources. So, is there a way to do this, good folks? If so, could you please help me? Thanks so much in advance... Daniel Zylstra

    #126) Jonah

The latest podcast is on the book of Jonah, familiar to most of us from the stories we heard as children. It's a "grownup" book, though with a serious message. Check out the newest Lighting the Lamp podcast!
  25. Hello It would be nice if I do a Research search and the output gives me a few hits and the option button. Then it would be nice if we can open all with pressing the [alt] button. Like open/close all in the library when we press the [alt] button by click on the triangle. Greetings Fabian
